Insurance and Massage Therapy

When massage therapy or medical massage is considered medically necessary and prescribed by a physician, we can then use insurance to help cover most if not all of the cost of your sessions.  Each session will focus on the injured area and is goal-oriented to improve the overall health of the patient, alleviate muscular knots, and increase range of motion that in turn relieves pain and dysfunction.  Therefore it is not a wellness massage treatment for relaxation purposes; it is manual therapy applied to the specific area and the primary pathology of the patient's chief complaint.

Medical Massage:
  • Medical massage treats ONLY the areas of the body prescribed on the physician's prescription
  • Medical massage is result-oriented and treatment is specifically directed to resolve conditions
  • The massage varies greatly depending on the injury
  • Medical massage generally requires more training than an average massage school provides

Forms of Insurance for Massage Therapy

Auto Accident Insurance:
If you were injured in an accident and currently have Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage please request a referral from your primary care physician.

  • Health Insurance Benefits:
If you were given a prescription from your physician for massage therapy Health & Body Logix can and does accept payment through health insurances, health flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings account (HSA), or a health reimbursement account (HRA). A few Health Insurance plans do cover massage therapy directly at this time; however most do not.  We do recommend you verify with your benefit provider first or you may end up paying all session fees. Simply ask if they will cover massage therapy directly, we will send you forms to help you know what to find out. Another alternative is to consider occupational therapy, which most health insurance plans do cover.  Together with your physician, you can make the best decision for you and your injuries.  Health & Body Logix is listed as a provider on several health insurance plans under August C. Quaife.

  • Uninsured:
For those that are not insured we do accept cash, credit cards, and we do have payment plans available.
